Alignment Based Yoga Specialist™ (ABYS) LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATION

What is an ABYS L2 Certification?

​The ABYS Level 2 Certification is a specialized qualification for yoga instructors, in addition to the traditional 300-hour Yoga Alliance certification. It focuses specifically on alignment-based yoga and includes:

  • Extensive Training: In alignment, anatomy, body mechanics, functional movement, and modifications for all body types.

  • Comprehensive Education: You’ll learn to master progressions and regressions based on alignment principles advancing your capacity to teach group classes and one on one sessions with clarity and confidence.

  • Curriculum & Examinations: Upon completing the program, graduates receive the ABYS Level 2 Certification in addition to the traditional 300-hour yoga teacher certification, becoming experts in Level 2 alignment-based teaching .

  • Master Thesis: During training, each 300 hour participant will work on and complete a Master Thesis based on a desired scope of practice and/or interest. This project is a capstone that demonstrates deep expertise in a specific area of yoga, integrating research, practice, and applied teaching methodologies.

Upon completing the program, graduates receive the ABYS Level 2 Certification in addition to the traditional 300-hour yoga teacher certification, marking them as experts in alignment-based teaching. This certification is unique to YogaOAK University ’s program and further qualifies graduates as Alignment Based Yoga Instructors. 

Upon completing the program, participants will also graduate with the following:

Core Teaching Skills:

  • Ability to teach and sequence basic to intermediate yoga poses.

  • Expertise in breaking down and rebuilding poses based on students' capabilities.

  • Knowledge of alignment principles and their application in asana.

  • Skill in constructing lesson plans centered around apex poses and themes.

  • Proficiency in applying alignment principles to various styles of yoga.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology as it relates to yoga.

  • Competency in offering pose adjustments, modifications, and prenatal yoga guidance.

  • Skills for teaching livestream classes and conducting private yoga sessions.

Philosophy and Ethics:

  • Fundamental understanding of yoga philosophy, history, modern application, and the applied psychology of yoga 

  • Awareness of the ethics of teaching and the responsibilities of a yoga instructor.

Business of Yoga:

  • Guidance on leveraging the certification for career growth, including securing jobs, starting a business, and finding a niche.

  • Insights into community service and practice teaching.

  • Master Thesis development, implementation, and presentation

Dual Certifications:

  • Yoga Alliance RYT 300 

  • ABYS Level 2 

 

Graduates will be equipped to confidently teach alignment based yoga in various settings, meeting industry standards and developing their unique teaching style.​​
